I am going to lay the smackdown on my employers tomorrow!!
On Sunday, a junkie came in and shortchanged me $10, in front of the owner and day manager (one of whom opened my drawer so I could give the lady her money), and the owner initially said not to worry about it since I did the right thing and it wasn't my fault. Later, the day manager said it would be coming out of my paycheck since my drawer was more than $5 under what it should be, due to the $10 missing from the shortchange artist- I told everyone that I would come in with an argument ready when I came back on Tuesday. The owner had left by the time I clocked out, and I had today (Monday) off to research the legality of this claim.
Turns out, THEY CAN'T DO THAT!!! hahahahaaaaa! [link]
So I'm going to go in tomorrow and tell them that they can't pull a fast one on me like that- I am, indeed, going to be a lawyer. The same manager that told me I have to pay also told me I don't seem like the lawyer type, to which I had responded "I have a very deep sense of justice, and injustice bothers me to no end. I want to make things right." And here I am, bustin balls 3 years before I even get into law school!
Moreover, I'm taking this up with the owner. The day manager, Oscar, called a friend and coworker of mine White Trash, and a few weeks before that called the President a liar and asshole IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS! The owner should know what her golden boy is running his mouth about, and what the employees think about it.
So, sweet people of Da, if it's Retired Cop Franchise-owner vs. Pissed off Yankee Pre-Law student/cashier, The winner will be the Pre Law student. Cuz I don't play.
